Columbus Grove
Jesse C. Lentz Jr., 81, died at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009, at The Meadows of Glandorf in Glandorf.
He was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Columbus Grove to Jesse and Helen Moore Lentz Sr., who preceded him in death. On Nov. 3, 1945, he married Philomena A. Brinkman, who died Aug. 27, 2005. They shared 60 lovely years of marriage.
Mr. Lentz retired in 1987 as a machinist from Westinghouse Electric Corp., Lima, after 40 years. He attended St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. He enjoyed listening to his wife’s organ music, playing cards, building his homes, going hunting, traveling and visiting. He was a fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes football and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His favorite words were “you betcha.”
Survivors include two sisters, Edith Burkholder, of Lima, and Beatrice (John) Solomon, of Elida; and several nephews and nieces, which includes his special nephew, Lenne Heffner, of Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Wood and Charlotte Heffner; and a brother, Richard Lentz.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Father Tom Oedy will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the dialysis unit at Putnam Ambulatory Care, Glandorf, and Putnam County Hospice.
The family would like to thank St. Rita’s Medical Center Intensive Care Unit, Drs. Bryant, Ukiwe and Kato; the dialysis unit at Putnam Ambulatory Care; The Meadows of Glandorf; and Putnam County Hospice.
