Henry Joseph Dick, 88, died at 2:10 a.m. Oct. 6, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.
He was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Hardin County to Jacob W. and Marie M. Brown Dick, who preceded him in death. On June 19, 1948, he married Anna Jane Williams, who died June 2, 1987.
Mr. Dick was co-owner of the Kenton Surplus Store for more than 60 years. He was a 1937 graduate of Kenton High School. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kenton. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 157, Kenton, and a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Family Center, Kenton. He enjoyed fishing, even if the fish weren’t biting. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Jo Ellen (Brice) Beaman, of Alger, and Janine (Mark Tice) Music, of Kenton; four grandchildren, Courtney (Bo) Hurley, Michelle (Robert) Underwood, T. Jay Music and Joshua Shane Music; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, LaVern Dick, of Kenton, and Jacob W. (Doris) Dick Jr., of Arizona; a sister, Jane (Ray) Stepp, of Georgia; a brother-in-law, Wesley Mouser, of Marysville; and a special family friend, Katie (Troy) Hunsicker.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Magdalena Mary Friemoth and Cecelia Dick.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kenton. Father Anthony Dinovo will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kenton, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Schindewolf-Stevens-Stout Funeral Home, Kenton, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
