Joe Nathan Florence, 58, died at 10:25 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Services Community.
He was born Oct. 23, 1951, in Lima to Athol and Ruth Whadley Florence, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 14, 2009, he married Sabrina Durr, who survives.
Mr. Florence was a member of Calvary Chapel of Praise. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors also include a stepson, Keith Durr, of Lima; two daughters, Takela N. Florence and Dauntria S. Florence, both of Lima; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Yolanda F.) Florence and Michael N. Florence, both of Lima; four sisters, Johnnie W. Torres, of Jacksonville, Fla., Ossie Garrett, of Indianapolis, Ruby Florence, of Clayton, Ala., and Linda A. Florence, of Indianapolis; and his mother-in-law, Ray V. Gladys Banks, of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eddie Will Comer; and a brother, Robert Marshall.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home. The Rev. Brandon Green will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
