Bertha C. Jackson, 99, died at 8:50 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.

She was born Feb. 11, 1909, in Amanda Township to Charles Newton and Barbara Roeder Thomas, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 30, 1932, she married Burl G. "Jack" Jackson, who died June 30, 2006.

Mrs. Jackson had worked in the office of Gregg's Department Store, Lima, for 18 years. She had been a member of Christie United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women. She loved her family and making scrapbooks. She had lived at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home for the last three years.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Jackson, of Cridersville, and David (Sharon) Jackson, of Lima; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley (Don) Miller, of Uniopolis, and Patty Hood, of Elida.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth K. Copus, Bessie V. Klingler and Lena M. Crites; two brothers, Orval G. and infant Charles Frederick Thomas; and a niece Barbara M. Adams.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. The Rev. Thomas Gossard will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, east of Spencerville.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
