Letter: Brunner's dismissals raise questions
Conservative Hardin County attorney Steve Christopher wanted to oppose Mike DeWine in the upcoming Republican primary for the office of Ohio attorney general.
Signature collectors all over the state were doing their collecting and they managed a count of approximately 2,750. One thousand signatures are required to get on the ballot. He had it made — at least until Democrat Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner (herself running for the U.S. Senate) said that Christopher only submitted 788 signatures, of which 638 have been declared valid.
Petitions with some 1,972 signatures are missing. What happened?
Could it be that there is something fishy going on here? Could it be that a Democrat would prefer a Republican in name only over a real conservative in a race, if the Democrat could not win?
Brunner also disqualified two Democrats who were trying to run for the seat she is seeking: Charlena Bradley, of Lyndhurst, who filed 1,170 signatures (642 valid), and Traci Johnson, of Hilliard, with 1305 signatures (less than half valid).
I sincerely hope we have not heard the last of this issue. I, for one, demand a recount — by somebody else.
