Letter: House did right thing passing Health Care Act

Tyerell Boughan, Lima

To the men and women of the U.S. House of Representatives who voted to pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act: I applaud your courage, common sense and caring for the American public.

To those of you who did not vote for the act, consider this: many Americans cannot afford insurance at this time. Although America is the most prosperous nation on the planet, we fall short when it comes to providing affordable insurance to all of our citizens, and our infant mortality rate is much higher than less prosperous countries.

We need to take action immediately to rectify this situation by passing House Resolution 3962 in the final vote. Please keep in mind that you are our representatives and are entrusted with our welfare — because we voted for you — but we are watching, and our votes could change in the next election.
