Wayne L. Holt, 91, died at 6 p.m. Dec. 1, 2009, at Lima Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 5, 1918, west of Columbus Grove to Raymond L. and Velma M. VanDemark Holt, who preceded him in death. On June 10, 1942, he married Dorothy J. Burkholder, who survives.
Mr. Holt retired as a farmer and a plumber. He was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School. He was an Army veteran, serving from early 1941 to August 1945, in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He was a member of Cable Road Alliance Church and had been a member of Columbus Grove Christian Church, Columbus Grove.
Survivors also include two sons, Dwaine (Leslie) Holt, of Lima, and Robert (Karlyn) Holt, of Bluffton; a daughter, Ann (Steven) Miller, of Lima; a sister, Erma Meyer of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Gladys Holt, of Lima; a brother-in-law, Gerald Kidd, of Columbus Grove; eight grandchildren, Kristen Holt, of Fort Collins, Colo., Jennifer (William) Cole, of Summerville, S.C., Timothy Holt, of San Mateo, Calif., Sarah (Jared) Lehman, of Bluffton, Rachel Holt, of Athens, Bryant (Kim) Miller, of Celina, Keri Ann (Kyle) Wiechart, of Lima, and Jenna (Patrick) Bailey, of Columbus; and six great-grandchildren, Ethan and Daniel Cole, Jacob and Eli Lehman, Max Miller and Kallie Wiechart.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, Donald and Carl Holt; and a sister, Mary Kidd.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cable Road Alliance Church. The Rev. Ronald Jones will officiate. A private burial will be in Cairo East Side Cemetery, Cairo.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.
