Herman Hensley

St. Marys - Herman Hensley, 74, of Rose Hill Va., formerly of St. Marys, died Nov. 7, 2009, at his residence.

He was born to Clarence and Carrie Overton Hensley, who preceded him in death. He married Shirley Gulley, who preceded him in death. His wife, Easter Hensley, survives.

Mr. Hensley was a member of White Shoals Baptist Church. He had been a welder  working at Avco New Idea, Coldwater; England Furniture & Manufacturing, Tazewell, Tenn., for 10 years, and at Whaley & Sons, Kodak, Tenn., for 11 years. He was an Army veteran. Our loss is heaven’s gain. He has now gone to be with his heavenly father.

Survivors also include a son, Mike (Annie) Hensley, of Lima; two daughters, Sandy (Jeff) Deitsch, of Wapakoneta, and Regina Brooks, of Tazewell, Tenn.; three stepchildren, Sharon (Patrick) Collins, of Mooresburg, Tenn., Darryl (Deb) Holt, of Sneedville, Tenn., and Doug Holt, of Tazewell, Tenn.; three brothers, Marion Hensley, of Sharps Chapel, Tenn., Jack Hensley, of Middlesboro, Ky., and Stanley Hensley, of St. Marys; a sister, Darlene Holland, of Sharps Chapel, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Hensley and a brother, Porter Hensley.

Memorial services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Samaria Baptist Church, St. Marys.
