The Rev. Virgil D. Hendrickson

The Rev. Virgil D. Hendrickson, 83, died at 12:18 p.m. Dec. 14, 2011, at his residence.

He was born June 9, 1928, in Pineville, Ky., to Albert Franklin and Betty Alice Money Hendrickson, who preceded him in death. On March 5, 1946, he married Helen I. Mayer, who died Sept. 23, 2009.

The Rev. Mr. Hendrickson had been a welder at Superior Coach/Sheller Globe Division and had worked at the Lima Locomotive Works, both in Lima. He was a member of Holden Missionary Baptist Church, Holden, where he had been the minister for 38 years. He was an Army veteran, serving at Camp Kilmer, N.J., from March 5, 1947, to Sept. 7, 1948.

Survivors include a son, Timothy F. (Dawnna) Hendrickson, of Kenton; two daughters, Susan Diane (Albert) Wilt, of Mount Victory, and Connie Lou (Jeff) Biddinger, of Kenton; a brother, Harold Lee (Barbara) Hendrickson, of Georgia; a sister, Beatrice Hoskin, of Lima; and 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Virgil Lee and Darrel Hendrickson; a sister, Roberta Hendrickson; and two brothers, Etna and Luther Hendrickson.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. The Rev. Alva Daniels will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Waynesfield.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and until time of services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holden Missionary Baptist Church.
