Nicki Gutierrez

Delphos - Nicki Gutierrez, 27, formerly of Spencerville, died at 7 p.m. Dec. 17, 2009, at her residence, following a 14 month battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.

She was born May 30, 1982, in Lima to Nicholas Gutierrez Jr. and Diane K. Young Edmister. Her father and stepmother, Paula Appleton Gutierrez, survive in Delphos. Her mother and stepfather, David E. Edmister, survive in Lewis Center. Her fiancé, Gary Kohler, survives in Delphos.

Miss Gutierrez was a 2000 graduate of Spencerville High School, where she played softball. She was a graduate of Rhodes State’s four year registered nursing program. She worked at St. Rita’s Medical Center on the 3-B cardiac area. She loved being with her fiancé, daughters and family. She enjoyed bowling and softball.

Survivors also include two daughters, Haylee and Sarah Kohler, both of Delphos; two brothers, Eric Gutierrez, of Delphos, and Alex Gutierrez, of Lewis Center; maternal grandfather, Norman (Angie) Young, of Olympia, Wash.; her fiancé’s parents, William and Virginia Kohler, of Delphos; and her fiancé’s sisters, Bonnie Ickes and Melissa Martin, both of Delphos.

She was preceded in death her maternal grandmother, Evelyn Young; and paternal grandparents, Nicolas and Lupe Gutierrez Sr.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. Pastors Ron Drage and Tom Shobe will officiate. Burial will be in Spencerville Cemetery, Spencerville.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and noon until time of services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to her children’s education fund in care of their father, Gary Kohler.
