Trina Christine Gast, 45, died at 8:10 a.m. Aug. 25, 2008, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 9, 1962, in St. Marys to Allen and Margaret "Marge" Smith Henschen. Her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives in New Knoxville. On July 1, 1991, in Gatlinburg, Tenn., she married Steven Gast, who survives.
Mrs. Gast was owner and operator of the Calico Cow & Cranberry Barn, New Knoxville, where she sold gifts and primitive wares. She was a member of Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen. She was a 1981 graduate of New Knoxville High School. She was a kind, social person, who loved running her shop. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables and attending auctions and flea markets.
Survivors also include two brothers, Terry Henschen and Tom (Marlene) Henschen, both of New Knoxville; a niece and nephew, Tyler and Kelly Henschen, of New Knoxville; her father- and mother-in-law, Chet and Anne Gast, of Spencerville; several friends; three sisters-in-law, Sherry (Mark) Henschen, of New Knoxville, Mary (Toby) Strayer, of Spencerville, and Cathy (Don) Sobosly, of Orlando, Fla.; and a brother-in-law, David (Bobby) Whitney, of St. Marys.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herman and Louise Eschmeyer Henschen and Carl and Marcile Hoy Smith.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen. The Revs. Tom Seger and Dean Greenwood will officiate. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International, the Auglaize County Cancer Association, Grand Lake Hospice or Faith Alliance Church.
