Lucille D. Gasser

Fort Jennings

Lucille D. Gasser, 86, died at 7:35 a.m. Oct. 21, 2009, at The Meadows of Kalida in Kalida.

She was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Fort Jennings to Joseph and Annette Von Sossan Suever, who preceded her in death. In 1945, she married Joseph G. Gasser, who died in 1986.

Mrs. Gasser was a homemaker and had been a teacher’s aide for Fort Jennings schools. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, where she had been a religion teacher and a parish housekeeper.

Survivors include a son, Dave (Tina) Gasser, of Fort Jennings; a daughter, Janet (Walt) Hoersten, of Fort Jennings; five grandchildren, Duane (Cindy) Hoersten, Chris (Wendy) Hoersten, Kevin (Molly) Hoersten, Kari (Darrin) German and Brandon Good; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan and Alexis Hoersten, Katelynn Hoersten, Evan and Adam Hoersten and Mason and Chase German; and two sisters, Harriett Behms “Babe” Croy, of Ottawa, and Marjorie (Robert) Kroeger, of Defiance.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Suever; and a sister Dolores Gasser.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings. Father Joseph Przybysz will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services  Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice.
