Frederick H. “Pete” Cianciolo, 77, died the evening of Dec. 20, 2009, at his residence.
He was born July 18, 1932, in Sidney to Frederick and Elizabeth Diomede Cianciolo, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 29, 1952, in Sidney, he married Rita J. Eshman, who survives.
Mr. Cianciolo was a 1950 graduate of Sidney High School, Sidney. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He owned and operated Sidney Fruit Co., Sidney. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Russells Point. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville, and a member of American Legion Post 191, Spencerville, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3615 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1533, both of Lakeview. He enjoyed playing golf and watching the Cleveland Browns, the Cincinnati Reds, The Ohio State University and Penn State.
Survivors also include six children, Lori (Craig) Harbert, of Erlanger, Ky., Frederick R. (Emily) Cianciolo, of Ione, Calif., Theresa (Mark) Gross, of Cincinnati, John (Samantha) Cianciolo, of Lakeview, Rita Marie (Ken) Hilty, of Spencerville, and David (Joan) Cianciolo, of Lakeview; and eight grandchildren and a stepgrandson.
A memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Russells Point. Father Harold W. Kist will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, with military rites by American Legion Post 217.
Friends may call one hour prior to services today at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health & Hospice, 701 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH 43311; St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Russells Point; or the American Cancer Society.
