1. Allen County Fair, Lima
Those people familiar with the 88 county fairs in Ohio will tell you the Allen County Fair is in the Top 5. Great entertainment each night, including top-name musicians; horse racing; cheerleading competition and a demolition derby, the Allen County Fair has it all. The midway includes great food from local organizations, “fair” food and plenty of exciting rides. Don't miss the 4-H competitions.
2. Star Spangled Spectacular, Lima
It starts with one of the biggest 5-K races in the region and ends with one of the best fireworks displays you'll find in northwest Ohio. Everyone knows Faurot Park is the place to be on July 4. Check out the volleyball and kickball tournaments, music, kiddie rides and plenty of food items to tempt the palate.
3. St. Gerard Festival, Lima
Nothing spells summer like the midway of the St. Gerard Festival. There are plenty of rides for those who dare and the food is wonderful — especially the chicken wings. It's also a great place to socialize. It's no wonder the grounds are packed all three nights of this exciting initiation of summer.
