Ethanol better than dealing with big oil

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

CHARLES W. MONTGOMERY, Bluffton

I have heard many discussions on ethanol (gasohol) but not many facts. That's when I went to Leipsic to the ethanol plant, which is north of town.
It's a large operation, tank cars and everything. So let's start how the operation works. For the first two days, Monday and Tuesday, in comes the corn. That's when the operation starts. They add water to start the corn fermenting. The first to come out is gasohol (ethanol). The next part that comes out is the corn - and it's ready to go back to the farms to feed cattle and chickens.
There's great future for ethanol (gasohol). One of the next moves is cellulose ethanol, which is made with corn stalks, switch grass, wood chips and even refuse. Another thing about ethanol is it's environmentally friendly. Big oil never has treated us fairly. They work with the Arabs at our expense. Now our country is getting into a lot of trouble, and the Arabs are buying us out. Why isn't big oil with its billions getting gas from coal? We have a great supply of coal. I believe the Air Force is starting to get gas from coal.
When I see people being friendly with big oil, I think they must have stock in the company or maybe buying oil futures, or maybe it's a politician getting election money.
I'm a veteran. I feel for our troops. They are up against miserable people. I believe the people of our country should pray for them every day.
