Wilbur Allen Esmonde

Wilbur Allen Esmonde, 71, died at 12:05 p.m. May 15, 2008, at his daughter's residence in Harrod.
He was born Sept. 30, 1936, in Lima to Alva W. and Ethel G. Zimmerman Esmonde, who preceded him in death. He had been married to Mary Franks Crider, who survives. His close companion of 20 years, Kathy Schulien, survives.
Mr. Esmonde retired as a carpet installer from Master Rug, after 30 years. He had also worked for the City of Lima and CSS Publishing. He was veteran of the Marine Corps Reserves, serving 10 years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima. He enjoyed bowling and fishing and was an avid wrestling fan.
Survivors also include two daughters, Vicki M. (Mike Gaskill) Gould, of Cosby, Tenn., and Kim A. (Blaine) Michael, of Harrod; two stepdaughters, Tiffany Selvaggio, of Lima, and Bethany (Dana) Shurelds, of St. Marys; two granddaughters, Jennifer T. Gould, of Cosby, Tenn., and Marissa A. Michael, of Harrod; six stepgrandchildren, Jordan Baskin, Ali Shurelds, Isbella Shurelds, Derek Slater, Summer Slater and Austin Selvaggio; a brother, Richard (Peg) Esmonde, of Lima; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Annabelle Clark Shepard and Donna Boughan; a stepson, Ben Selvaggio; and a grandson, Dalton A. Gould.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.
Friends may call from noon until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.
