John Edward Ell

John Edward Ell, 73, died at 1:43 a.m. Dec. 11, 2008, at his residence.

He was born April 24, 1935, in Columbus to Curtis and Alma Reed Ell, who preceded him in death. On June 1, 1963, he married Barbara Joan Miller, who survives in Lima.

Mr. Ell retired from Fisher Cheese Co., Wapakoneta, and had worked for Service Master. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was an Army veteran, serving with Elvis Presley, sharing the same quarters and enjoying his music. He loved his grandchildren, drawing and crafting, including making rockers, doll houses and many other things. He enjoyed watching wrestling.

Survivors include a son, John Paul (Edna) Ell, of Jellico, Tenn.; a daughter, Andrea Lynn Kalb, of Lima; three grandchildren, John Estel Ell, Mary Jo Ell and Ryan Christopher Kalb; a brother, David Lee (Kathleen) Ell, of Gainesville, Fla.; and a sister, Evelyn Shannon, of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lynn Ell; four brothers, George, Harold, Paul and Ralph Ell; three sisters, Dorothy Sexton, Naomi Martin and Grace Davis.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Don Byard will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seventh Day Adventist Church.
