Elizabeth “Betty” Stanz, 85, died at 2:10 p.m. Dec. 25, 2009, at Baton Rouge Senior Living Center.

He was born July 29, 1924, in Fort Jennings, to Felix and Flora Kershner Calvelage, who preceded her in death. She married John W. Stanz, who died March 19, 1986.

Mrs. Stanz was a housewife and co-owner of the Texaco Marathon station in Fort Jennings with her husband. She worked in the Lima Mall during the holiday season at the train and also worked at VanCrest and Eagle Print after her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, and was a 1942 graduate of Fort Jennings High School. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, going to the lake and going to casinos.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Kathy) Stanz, of St. Marys; two daughters, Diane “Dee Dee” Boroff, of Convoy, and Sharon (Duane) Luebrecht, of Fort Jennings; a sister, Jackie (Augie) Trenkamp, of Fort Jennings; and a special friend, Jack Meadows.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerard “Dutch” Calvelage; two sisters, Mary Calvelage and Ruth Wieging Broeker; a son-in-law, William Boroff; and a grandson, Jeffrey Boroff.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Father Joseph Przybysz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
