Clarence E. Dixon

Clarence E. Dixon, 78, died at 3 a.m. Dec. 13, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born April 30, 1931, in Anacoco, La., to William David and Lenora T. Conerly Dixon, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 20, he married Dorothy May McCormick, who died Nov. 20, 2004.

Mr. Dixon was a member of the Holly Grove Church. He attended Kossuth Zion United Methodist Church. He was a member of Wayne Lodge 569 Free and Accepted Masons, Waynesfield. He was a Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Orange Chapter 224 Order of Eastern Star, Anacoco, La. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville. He retired from Scot Lad Foods maintenance department after 32 years. He was a 1948 graduate of Anacoco High School.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin (Maxine) Dixon, of Conroe, Texas, and Warren (Chris) Dixon, of Lima; two daughters, Marlene (Paul) Font, of Evansport, and Patricia (Richard) Seibert, of Spencerville; a sister, Nell Simmons Wright, of Kurthwood, La.; and 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Nora Lee Jernigan, Lucille McAfee, Geneva Dixon, and Mildred Martin; and two brothers, Warren and Orvan Dixon.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield. The Rev. Ray Daniel Jr. will officiate. Additional services will be held Sunday at Holly Grove Methodist Church, Anacoco, La. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Armentrout Funeral Home and from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hixon Funeral Home, Leesville, La.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Lake Hospice.
