Robert Donovan Deubler, 42, died at 3:40 a.m. Jan. 24, 2010, surrounded by his family in his residence.
He was born Aug. 3, 1967, in Lima to David Deubler, who survives in Continental, and Carolyn Sorge, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 7, 1991, he married Kendra Cunningham, who survives in St. Marys.
Mr. Deubler was a 1985 graduate of Lima Senior High School. After high school, he went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio Northern University, Ada, and his master’s degree from Wright State University, Fairborn. He was a teacher at East Elementary School in the St. Marys City School District. He previously taught at Spencerville Elementary School.
He had a passion for coaching the game of football. He coached for several schools during his career, including assistant coach at Parkway High School, head coach at Spencerville High School, and most recently freshman coach at St. Marys Memorial High School. He was also a head wrestling coach at Spencerville High School. He volunteered his time to coach T-ball, softball and midget football. He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys, and Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, Ohio Northern University. He loved camping, coaching, golfing, and most of all being a father. He will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors also include two sons, Jared, 14, and Jace, 8; a daughter, Jaiden, 11; and two sisters, Michele Aby and Nicole (Christopher) Hicks, both of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Deubler.
Services will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys. Pastor Steve Weatherly will officiate. Burial will be later.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cisco Funeral home, St. Marys, and from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to University of Michigan, Department of Dermatology for melanoma research.
