Eugene J. Denison

Eugene J. Denison, 85, died at 1:09 p.m. Sept. 16, 2009, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born July 5, 1924, in Lima to Wilbur O. and Elva L. Hoeper Denison, who preceded him in death. On March 1, 1953, he married Kathleen M. “Kathy” Jordan, who survives in Lima. They were married for 56 years.
Mr. Denison retired in August 1986 as an electrician from Ex-Cell-O, Bluffton, after 30 years. He was a member of South Side Christian Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was an avid bowler, fisherman and loved shooting pool with his friends at Primrose. He was a lifetime fan of the Cincinnati Reds.
Survivors also include a son, Bruce W. Denison, of Cloverdale; two daughters, Virginia L. “Ginny” Erb, of West Jefferson, and Barbara J. Hollar, of Lima; six grandchildren, Jayme L. Erb, Brandon (Sarah) Erb, Kristina A. (Chad) Warris, Jason A. Hollar, Melissa J. Davenport and Justin M. Hollar; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth (Maxine) Denison.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Doug Adams and Wanda Werking will officiate. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and beginning one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
