    Mount Cory

    Shirley A. Cira, 74, died at 3:50 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009, in Findlay.

She was born July 21, 1935, in Harrod to Charles and Margaret Shadley Conkle, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 2, 1963, she married Louis A. Cira, who died April 24, 1991.

Mrs. Cira had a love and compassion for family and friends that was contagious. She was a beloved wife, loving mother, devoted sister and a proud grandmother. She was an avid traveler, whether it was to Ireland to kiss the Blarney Stone or to her favorite place, Hawaii, with her husband or with the family on camping and fishing trips. She was always on the go, taking her boys to hockey practice, working the concession business or running the Spaghetti Shop. She was a dedicated watcher of Days of Our Lives for 40 years and a lover of country music. She was a wonderful grandmother and especially enjoyed reading stories, watching movies and sleepovers with her grandson. She was a woman of great character and courage who will always remain in our hearts. She was a 1952 graduate of Harrod High School.

Survivors include two sons, James (Kimberly) Cira, of Mount Cory, and Jeff Cira, of Lima; two brothers, Larry (Betty) Conkle, of Harrod, and Gary Conkle, of Ada; two sisters, Betty Masters, of Oregon, Ohio, and Linda (Jerry) Evans, of Harrod; a grandson, Louis Cira; several nephew and nieces; and two sisters-in-law, Pat Conkle, of Westminster, and Gladys Conkle, of Harrod.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Robert Conkle; and a brother-in-law, Bob Masters.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Father James McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, where a parish wake and a rosary service will be held at 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Mount Cory Volunteer Fire Department.

Condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
