Locos fall to 1-2 with loss to Cincinnati Steam
CINCINNATI — The Lima Locos tumbled back under .500 with another poor pitching performance.
The Locos pitchers walked 16 and hit three batters to help the Cincinnati Steam roll past the Locos 8-0 Thursday at Western Hills High School.
Cincinnati is 4-1. The Locos stand 1-2.
Cincinnati ended up with four hits, while the Locos had five hits.
The Steam’s Zach Isler notched the win with two innings of shutout, one-hit relief.
Trey Smith (Morehead State) took the loss. He started and went 2.1 innings and gave up four runs, all earned, on one hit. He walked six and struck out two.
Justin Hancock (Lincoln Trail/Defiance) went 2.1 innings of relief and gave up three runs and walked five.
Michael Basil went 1 for 4 with two RBIs for the Steam. Nick Priessman was 1 for 4 with two RBIs.
The Locos will meet Lake Erie at 7 p.m. tonight at Simmons Field.
