Thelma Earlene Knupp Chidester, 91, died at 6:10 p.m. Oct. 4, 2009, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Beaverdam.

She was born May 22, 1918, in Westminster to William and Ellen Brown Holland, who preceded her in death. She married Gail Knupp, who died in 1984. She then married Bill A. Chidester, who survives.

Mrs. Chidester retired as a clerk from Weichart Pharmacy. She was a member of Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren for several years.

Survivors also include a son, Robert L. (Virginia) Knupp, of Lima; two daughters, Wilma (Cal) Eckman, of Russells Point, and Diane Sawyer, of Lima; seven grandchildren, Barbara Irons, Keith (Shelley) Knupp, Jodi (Doug) Eads, Jeff LaRue, Michelle (Scott) Burden, Glen (Sara) Sawyer and John Sawyer; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle and Frank Holland; and a sister, Breta Chidester.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Marty Moyer will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren.

The family would like to express their respect and appreciation to the staff at Richland Manor Nursing Home for all of their kindness and consideration.
