Lima mayor David Berger is vindictive; time for a change
Comments 0 | Recommend 0
It was with sadness that I listened to Mayor Dave Berger on the news and read his comments in The Lima News where he used the community shareholder discussions as a political tool against someone (Sheriff Beck) that may be running against him for mayor of Lima.
This "good" mayor needs to put his personal agenda and political grandstanding away and work with the sheriff to help make Lima a safer, better place to live, work and raise families.
The mayor is being disingenuous with his comments and attitude. I have known of Mayor Berger for approximately 17 years. The mayor has become a very shallow, conniving and vindictive person. It's either his way or the highway. Mayor Berger needs to remove himself from the day-to-day operations of the police department and let the professional law enforcement people manage the department.
I have a question for Mayor Berger: Why have several of the seasoned police officers retired or resigned (quit) from LPD since the Third Street incident on Jan. 4?
Dave Berger has been the mayor for almost 20 years. It's time for a change. I have a suggestion for Mayor Berger: If you want to see changes in Lima, start with your own attitude and perceptions of the Lima community. Stop with the secrecy and inform the community of things that may/will affect their lives. Be a leader. Stop pointing fingers at others and point the finger at yourself.
If you truly want better communications and partnerships, start with your own house.
