Catherine E. “Katie” Deters

Leipsic - Catherine E. “Katie” Deters, 85, died at 7:10 p.m. Nov. 25, 2009, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.
She was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Kalida to Ben and Philomena Feltman Maag, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 27, 1947, she married Harold W. Deters, who died April 3, 2001.
Mrs. Deters retired in 1985 from Philips EGC, Ottawa. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic, and its Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, flowers, gardening, playing cards, working crossword puzzles and reading, and she loved to cook.
Survivors include two sons, David Deters and Dennis (Karen) Deters, both of Ottawa; a son-in-law, Dave Recker, of Ottawa; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron and Jason Recker, Michelle and Melissa Deters, and Lindsay, Stephanie and Tyler Deters; a great-grandchild, Calix Pothast; five brothers, Carl (Rita) Maag, of Ottawa, Urban (Rosemary) Maag, Eugene (Shirley) Maag and Leroy (Karen) Maag, all of Columbus Grove, and Dennis (Rita) Maag, of Kalida; three sisters, Evelyn Wannemaker, of Ottoville, Mildred (Wilbert) Roof, of Columbus Grove, and Marcia (Jim) Kuhlman, of Ottawa; and two sisters-in-law, Viola Maag, of Leipsic, and Jennie Maag, of Columbus Grove.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Recker and Connie Sue Deters; three brothers, Harold, Omar and Daniel Maag; and a brother-in-law, Harold Wannemaker.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic. Father George Wenzinger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, where an altar rosary service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St Mary’s Parish.
