Sue Campbell, 73, died the evening of Dec. 14, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 24, 1936, in New Concord to Harold W. and Louise Hillyer Bay, who preceded her in death. On March 26, 1955, she married Charles G. “Chuck” Campbell, who died Dec. 24, 2007.
Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker and had been a day care teacher at the Learning Center, Wapakoneta, for 30 years. She had also been a secretary in the music and admissions departments at Muskingum College, New Concord. She had served as co-director of the preschool at First Presbyterian Church, West Carrollton. She was a graduate of New Concord High School and Sinclair Community College, Dayton. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta. She was a member of the Wapakoneta Women’s Club, the Auglaize County Humane Society and the Swedish Weaving Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters, music, taking art lessons and painting, and being with her friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan J. Campbell, of Findlay, and Karen J. (Frederick W.) Gross, of Carmel, Ind.; two granddaughters, Colleen Jean and Charlotte Sue Gross; a brother, Robert (Doreen “Pete”) Given, of Nevada, Iowa; two sisters, Ann (Donald “Spike”) Stockum, of Gahanna, and Florence “Sandy” (David) Rozelle, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; three brothers-in-law, Ralph (Joanie) Campbell, of Lost Creek, W.Va., Joseph (Doris) Campbell, of Scott Depot, W.Va., and Michael “Mick” (Barbara) Campbell, of Big Springs, W.Va.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean (Orville) Daily; and a sister-in-law, Linda Campbell Stanley.
A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta. The Rev. Dr. Alex Gondola and the Rev. Dr. Richard Dailey, her nephew, will officiate.
Friends may call following the service Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or the Auglaize County Humane Society.
