Bluffton
Maurice E. Fett, 86, died at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
He was born March 2, 1923, in Bluffton to Gilbert and Inez Triplehorn Fett, who preceded him in death. On May 1, 1949, he married Eula Locher, who died Sept. 16, 1991. On June 14, 1997, he married Maeola McClain, who survives in Bluffton.
Mr. Fett retired as owner of Fett Hardware, Bluffton. He was a member of English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion Post 382 and the Senior Citizens, all in Bluffton. He was a member and former president of the Bluffton Business Association and was active in the development of downtown Bluffton. He served on the board of directors of Citizens National Bank for 40 years and as president of the Bluffton Stone Co. He had been a Citizen of the Year for the Lions Club. He was a graduate of Bluffton High School and attended Ohio Northern University. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three sons, David (Mary) Fett, Robert (Sue) Fett and Edward (Denise) Fett, all of Bluffton; a daughter, Carol (Larry) Hechler, of Huntertown, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a stepson, Michael (Cindy) McClain, of Vanlue; a stepdaughter, Laura (Kevin) Cavitt, of Findlay; and six stepgrandchildren.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. The Rev. Kevin Mohr will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton, with military rites by American Legion post 382.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made to English Lutheran Church or Bridge Hospice Care Center.
