Marvin C. Bishop

Marvin C. Bishop, 77, died at 4:20 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

He was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Hamler to George and Leola Fruchy Bishop, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 28, 1955, he married Louise Fay Martin, who survives.

Mr. Bishop was a 1951 graduate of Hamler High School and a 1958 graduate of DeVry University. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired in 1989 from Cooper Tire, Findlay, after more than 34 years. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 698, Findlay. He loved working on cars, mowing his yard and building homes. He was an avid hunter. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his wife was the love of his life.

Survivors also include three sons, Mark A. (Kathie) Bishop, of Forest, Michael L. (Linda) Bishop, of Van Buren, and Stacy D. (Ginny) Bishop, of Findlay; a daughter, Sandra K. Bishop, of Findlay; two brothers, Melvin (Margaret) Bishop, of Hamler, and Richard Bishop, of Deshler; a sister, Patricia (Roy) Hampshire, of Auburn, In.; and seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Bethany, Joshua and Kyle Bishop and Louis, Abigail and Benjamin Kiser.

He was preceded in death by a son, David J. Bishop; and two brothers, James and Robert Bishop.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Pastor J.D. Roessler will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, with military rites by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
