Grace Bendele, 92, died at 7:32 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.

She was born April 29, 1917, in Ottawa to August and Coelina Boerger Michel, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 18, 1939, she married Leonard W. Bendele, who died Feb. 27, 2000.

Mrs. Bendele was a homemaker and farmer. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and its Altar Rosary Society. She loved sewing, quilting, gardening, square dancing, playing cards and dominos, and traveling.

Survivors include four sons, James (Shirley) Bendele and Marvin (Vicki Haughn) Bendele, both of Ottawa, Paul (Connie) Bendele, of Paxton, Ill., and Eugene Bendele, of Medford, Ore.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Mary Ann) Michel, of Ottawa; three sisters, Rita Warnimont, of Miller City, Lauritta Foughty, of Columbus Grove, and Edith Kleman, of North Creek; and three sisters-in-law, Betty Michel, of Columbus Grove, Dorthy Michel, of Ottawa, and Evelyn Sutter, of Bluffton.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Harry, Claire and Francis Michel; and an infant sister, Ann Michel.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Father Matt Jozefiak will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a Scripture service will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
