LIMA — There is art all around us. But getting the most enjoyment from that art can be an art in itself. And one ArtSpace/Lima is willing to help decipher with its Soup and Salad winter lecture series, “The Art in Your Life,” kicking off Tuesday.
“In the past we've done a lot of art history and aesthetics in this series, but we have never addressed the practical reality of art. It's the pragmatics of the thing. Everybody has art in their lives, and there's always a better way to do it,” said Bill Sullivan, operations manager of ArtSpace.
In this series, everything art-related will be up for discussion.
Need a practical guide to buying art? How about learning to frame it and hang the art? Do you need to know how to talk about the art you've purchased? This series will handle it all with experts including Laura Corle, Brian Krawetzke and Linda Lehman.
Corle is an art teacher and practicing artist, with works on display in galleries throughout Ohio.
Krawetzke is an art teacher and has displayed his works at ArtSpace. He is also co-curator of ArtSpace's upcoming exhibit on Ohio printmakers. And Lehman, an art teacher, has also displayed her works at ArtSpace.
“This series came about in a rather serendipitous manner. One person on our exhibit committee said we should do a program on purchasing art. Another suggested one on displaying art, and before we knew it, we had a series. I think this is one people will enjoy,” Sullivan said.
