Albin “Pete” Hasting, 72, died at 6:30 a.m. Nov. 24, 2009, at The Ridge at Shawnee.

He was born March 6, 1937, in Lima to Wilbur and Louise Koch Hasting, who preceded him in death. On April 27, 1958, he married Lynn Young, who died Nov. 8, 2004.

Mr. Hasting was an inspector for many years for McNeal and Libby. He was also vice president and union steward of the United Steel Workers. He served in the Navy Reserve. He was an avid The Ohio State University and Cincinnati Reds fan. He enjoyed gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Jeffrey L. Hasting, and Timothy L. Hasting, both of Sheffield Lake, Fredrick A. (Michelle) Hasting, of Delphos, and Mitchell (Julie) Hasting, of Lima; two daughters, Pamala J. (Michael) Scharf and Lynette M. (Chris) Stebleton, both of Lima; and 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert L., Thomas R. and William Hasting; and five sisters, Marjorie Bercaw, Geneva Frazee, Barbara Stauffer, Patricia Hasting and Mary Louise Hasting.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor David Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
