New Knoxville dominates Temple

LIMA — New Knoxville scored a bunch of runs on Monday, not that Cody Horstman needed much support.

The Rangers beat Temple Christian 12-0 in a five-inning baseball game behind a stellar complete game by Horstman — two hits and 10 strikeouts.

Horstman added two hits at the plate with a RBI. Marcus Reineke and Jake Allen also had two hits for the Rangers (7-1), each driving in two runs. Horstman and Reineke each smacked a double.

Lima Central Catholic 6, Paulding 2

PAULDING — Trevor Kottenbrock threw a complete game, striking out three and allowing eight hits in the win. The Thunderbirds improved to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the NWC.

LCC broke a 1-0 Paulding lead with three runs in the fifth, adding two more in the sixth and another in the seventh. Kyle O’Dowd, Joey Levers, Mike Snider and Austin Stolly all hit doubles for the Birds.

Paulding fell to 3-6 and 2-2.

Shawnee 6, St. Henry 2

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Shawnee scored six runs in the second inning, powering to non-league win and a 7-3 record. Geoffrey Akin had a home run for the Indians. Trey Runneals picked up the pitching win for Shawnee.

St. Henry fell to 4-4.

Leipsic 11, Cory-Rawson 1

LEIPSIC — Leipsic kicked off the game with a 10-run second inning and won in five innings. Corey Berger threw a complete game three-hitter, with no walks and four strikeouts, for the win. Nate Schey and Devin Mangas had doubles for the Vikings (9-0, 3-0 BVC).

The Hornets are 6-3, 1-2 in the conference.

Miller City 5, Ayersville 4

MILLER CITY — Brent Hermiller and Cody Dukes each had two hits for Miller City (4-7). The Wildcats scored three in the third and two more in the fifth.

Ross Kaufman won with a complete game effort, giving up eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

Kalida 6, Continental 2

KALIDA — Tyler Heitmeyer and Nick Guisinger each cracked home runs for Kalida, and teammate Jordan Ellerbrock added a double. The Wildcats (5-1, 2-1 PCL) had nine hits.

Jordan Laudick pitched the win, moving to 2-1.

Brandon Scott hit a double for Continental (2-8, 0-4 PCL).

Ottoville 8, Elida 0

OTTOVILLE — Cody Delong and Aaron Wehri each had two hits for Ottoville. Delong had a double and two RBIs for the Big Green (5-4). Tyler Turnwald picked up the win.

Nick Sackinger both hits for Elida (3-7).

Delphos Jefferson 5, Spencerville 2

SPENCERVILLE — Delphos Jefferson won its first NWC game of the season, improving to 1-2 in the conference and 4-7 overall. Ben Babcock pitched the win, striking out four and giving up two hits and three walks. Teammate Kyle Anspach contributed a double to the effort.

Tanner Koverman hit a home run for the Bearcats (5-6, 1-2 NWC).

New Bremen 6, Covington 5

NEW BREMEN —New Bremen rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to nip Covington. The Cardinals are 4-8.

Liberty-Benton 4, Pandora-Gilboa 3

FINDLAY — Liberty-Benton scored single runs in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to slowly grind out the win. Austin Inglestone had a complete game win with five walks, five strikeouts and two hit batsmen. The Rockets (1-6, 0-2 BVC) scored twice in the seventh.

Celina 7, Coldwater 6

CELINA — Kahl Knapke had two hits and scored three runs for Celina. The Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the win.

Aaron Rammel had two hits, including a triple, for Coldwater.

Lincolnview 4, Ada 3

ADA — Taylor Hoehn picked up the pitching win for Lincolnview, walking just one and striking out six.

Aaron Weyer hit a double and drove in two RBIs for Ada. Pitcher Austin Everhart had 10 strikeouts.

SOFTBALL
Paulding 8, Lima Central Catholic 2

PAULDING — Paulding scored three runs in the third and fourth innings to nail down the win. The Panthers had 12 hits.

Meredith Shepherd had three hits for the Thunderbirds (2-7).

Bath 6, Defiance 0

DEFIANCE — Kimmy Reynolds struck out 11 batters and walked just three for Bath. Ali Best had three hits, including a double, for the Wildkittens (8-4, 2-2 WBL), and Emily Jordan and Emily Mauk each had two hits. Bath had 10 hits and didn’t commit an error.

Patrick Henry 8, Continental 0

CONTINENTAL — Tori Meyer gave up three hits and struck out 17 in a complete game win. The Patriots scored three in the first and five in the fifth.

The Pirates committed five errors.

Perry 3, Riverside 2

PERRY TOWNSHIP — Megan Patton struck out 10 batters and ran her record to 9-0 with a tight win over a NWCC rival. The Commodores scored two in the first and had to survive a two-run sixth inning by Riverside.

Abbie Patton belted a triple for the Commodores (11-0).

Ottawa-Glandorf 10, Kalida 0

OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf scored nine runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to ice the win. Jessie Kreinbrink had a single and a triple for the Titans (8-4) while teammate Katie Ruhe had two singles. Hayley Kitchen picked up the win, giving up two hits and striking out six in five innings.

Whitney Smith struck out four batters in 4 2/3 innings for Kalida.

Parkway 10, Minster 0

ROCKFORD — Emily Crowell pitched a perfect game, striking out seven in five innings. Taylor Walls had two hits with three runs and two RBIs for Parkway (7-2, 2-0 MAC), and Kylie Snynder had one hit and four RBIs. The Panthers had five hits and drew seven walks.

Fairbanks 17, Waynesfield-Goshen 0

WAYNESFIELD — Fairbanks had six extra base hits, including two home runs, in a 17-hit win. The Panthers allowed only one hit and struck out 11 Waynesfield batters.

The Tigers fell to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the NWCC.

Leipsic 6, Cory-Rawson 4

LEIPSIC — Shari Mangas and Mara Schroeder each had two hits, with Mangas driving in two runs for the Vikings. Emily Gerten was the winning pitcher, improving to 5-3.

Versailles 11, Marion Local 7

MARIA STEIN — Versailles had six doubles among its 14 hits and drove away with a win. The Tigers scored 10 runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Kari Koesters and Kristen Subler each had doubles for the Flyers (5-6), who committed five errors.

Covington 10, New Bremen 3

COVINGTON — Hannah Overman and Brittany Blaine hit doubles for New Bremen (7-5), but a strong start carried Covington (12-0). The Buccaneers scored all 10 runs in the first three innings, including a three-run home run in the first.

Miller City 9, Wayne Trace 6

MILLER CITY — Miller City scored three runs in the third inning and another two in the sixth to grab the win. Jessica Leis was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings and giving up four earned runs on seven hits with 10 strikeouts. Ali Lammers had three RBIs for the Wildcats (8-1), and Sam Michel added two RBIs.

BOYS TENNIS
St. Marys 3, Lima Central Catholic 2

LIMA — St. Marys won at third singles (Matt Freewalt), and both doubles positions in running its record to 7-2. The first doubles team for the Roughriders was Wyatt Falasco and Troy Newlove, and Jeremy Wilson and Cole Brooks were at second doubles.

Alex Swick won at first singles for LCC (5-3), and teammate John Kidd won at second singles.

Ottawa-Glandorf 5, Ayersville 0

OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf moved to a 6-2 overall record with a dominating win. The Titans only lost six sets through all three matches. Singles wins went to Brook Fortman, Luis Hinojosa and Zac Bruskotter, and doubles victories to Alex Kuhlman and Brenden Drerup, and Jeff Siefker and Brad Siefker.

Bath 4, Lima Senior 1

BATH TOWNSHIP — Bath swept the singles wins and won at second doubles in the non-league victory. Jason Lauf, Jerry Kindig and Cody Slusher won at singles, and Jeremy Jett and Nick Cunningham won at second doubles. The Spartans won at first doubles with Jose Saavodia and Quentin Starkey.

Wapakoneta 5, Piqua 0

WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta improved to 5-0 overall with the sweep of Piqua. Singles wins went to Nic Oen, Joey Jose and Andy Faller. First doubles went to Rex Azbell and Anthony Kennard, and second doubles went to Jordan Houston and Josh Moots.
