Don’t raise cigarette tax again

March 22, 2014

After reading how the governor wants to raise cigarette taxes to pay for his income tax cut, it made me mad. He wants to make a small part of the state pay for something that everybody will benefit from.

The last time I looked, smoking was legal, and we should not be punished for smoking.

If he doesn’t smoke, that is his business, and doing something legal is ours. One group shouldn’t try to make another group live like they do just because they don’t like their lifestyle.

If the income tax cut is supposed to benefit everyone, then come up with a way that everybody pays their share to make it happen. Quit making smokers the bad guy every time you want to raise money for one of your pet projects.
