VAN WERT — Niswonger Performing Arts Center will be ringing with holy laughter as the Church Basement Ladies present “A Mighty Fortress is Our Basement.”

The setting for this musical comedy is East Cornucopia Lutheran in 1960. The ladies of the church will see a variety of changes coming to their group, from high heels to a first driver’s license. Through their hilarious antics, the ladies learn valuable lessons on faith and friendship.

Tafi Stober, marketing director for Niswonger, is excited to see what this production has to offer.

“The Niswonger is thrilled to see the return of the Church Basement Ladies,” she said. “Their humor is purely hilarious and picks good-natured fun at the realities of being ‘judgmental’ with good intentions.”

While offering a lot of laughs, the Church Basement Ladies also bring a high production value, according to Stober.

“These Church Basement Ladies are also sensational singers,” she said, “and the musical score is Broadway quality even for the most discriminating listening audience.”

Throughout the comedy and the music, Stober promises audiences a memorable experience.

“The Church Basement Ladies is a show that is guaranteed to lift spirits,” she said.
