There was a packed house at Victory Lanes over the weekend for its sixth annual Professional Bowling Association tournament. Fifty-seven bowlers from Ohio and almost a dozen states in the PBA’s central region competed in the preliminary round on March 8. For the elimination round March 9, the field was down to 16 bowlers playing 20 games. Two of them bowled a perfect game (final score of 300).
Jack Jurek of New York, who has appeared on television’s ESPN network, took home the first place trophy. Wash Haney, Sr., a bowler from the Mansfield area, finished in 8th place.
“This is the best turnout we’ve ever had,” Victory Lanes Owner Ken Bodkins said after the balls stopped rolling. He also praised the bowlers who visited Galion, saying “I haven’t met a bad person yet.”
In addition, on Friday evening the bowling alley held a “Bowl with the Pros” event, where kids got to bowl three games with three different pros.
