RUSSIA — A woman standing in a bar parking lot was struck Saturday afternoon by a stray bullet from a man target shooting at a nearby farm.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported that Kristy K. Godown, 40, of Greenville, was standing in the parking lot of Cruiser’s Bar & Grill, 115 North St., when she was struck in the elbow. The incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. Godown was taken to Wayne Hospital in Greenville with non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation showed that Matt Cordonnier was target shooting with a Marlin .22-caliber riffle at a nearby farm. He did not have an adequate backstop, which allowed rounds to reach the bar.
