This week’s coupons include Smartsource and Red Plum. Since there are back-to-school sales happening I suggest you keep ads for price matching and check out the department store ads for coupons on clothing.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, back-to-school season is here! You may have noticed that the back-to-school deals were out much earlier this year. Some were promoted before July 4 and that’s usually not the case.
This is the best time of year to get clothes and office supplies/school supplies at rock-bottom prices. Your best deals are usually found at the office supply stores. You can usually price match these items at Walmart. Walmart’s price-matching policy states that customers are not required to provide ads for price matching, however given that these prices are extremely low, such as 1 cent for an item, it may work best to just bring that ad with you.
You can really save big by using your rewards to purchase the back-to-school items. For example, you can purchase laundry detergent, possibly get a great deal on it with a coupon, and get a reward back. After you get the reward you can use that toward items that don’t have coupons. It’s a great way to stretch your money and stay within budget.
Where you can catch the best back to school deals this week:
Office Max has weekly “1-cent deals” during back-to-school season. This is where you pay $6.99 for an item and they give you back $6.98, which brings your final cost to just 1 cent. Not all of the deals work this way, but some do. In the past some stores would honor these prices. If you are not able to price match, you can purchase the item at Office Max. Their rewards system works very much like Up rewards or Extrabuck rewards that we’re use to using. It’s all the same concept. You spend this amount and you get this amount back to use in-store. The only requirement when purchasing “penny deals” is that you purchase a $5 minimum. Many times you can also find a coupon to save $5 off a $25 purchase in the Office Max weekly flyer.
Walgreens has some great deals this week on school supplies: Two-pocket folders or mini highlighters are eight for $1 (limit 16); pencils or crayons are 39 cents each; and scissors and notebooks are 49 cents each.
Rite Aid has highlighters, pens and pencils for 79 cents per pack. CVS has extrabuck deals for the bigger packaged items. You can catch a few deals on regular items this week as well.
Coupons can be used for back-to-school purchases as well. The key to this is finding name brands such as Elmer's, Scotch, 3M and more. Some items come with rebates, so don’t forget to participate in those if you find any. I will keep you posted on current rebates that I come across. New: Starting this Sunday you can find match-ups for the top deals for back to school shopping, online shopping, clothes, food, cleaning, baby and more.
