Fireworks, evening program still a go

July 4, 2013

LIMA At this hour, the Star Spangled Spectacular fireworks remain a go, event Chair Ric Stolly said.

The evening activities, beginning with Nashville Crush at 7 p.m. and then the Lima Symphony Orchestra, are set to continue, with fireworks planned for 10 p.m.

The committee is closely watching the weather and meets hourly to discuss the situation. While the rain has washed out much of the activities at Faurot Park this afternoon, the fireworks could still be displayed tonight.

The committee is taking into consideration that tomorrow's rain date looks worse, weather wise, Stolly said.

The day has included the Freedom 5K, Family Kickball Tournament and Sand Volleyball Tournament. However, just as the day should have been gearing up with kids' rides, entertainment at the Pavilion and other activities, the skies opened up.

See for updates tonight.
