LIMA ó Thom Lewis Mathews, 71, of Hazelwood, Mo., formerly of Lima, passed away April 21, 2013, at his residence.
Thom was born Dec. 26, 1941, in Lima to the late Frank and Lucille Mathews.
Thom was a graduate of Lima Senior High, class of 1959. Upon graduation, Thom enlisted in the Navy where he served his country for 20 years before retiring in 1979. After a few years in restaurant management, Thom returned to serve his country as a civilian, working as a logistics specialist based out of St. Louis with the U.S. government in partnership with McDonald Douglas/Boeing, until he retired in 1993.
Thom was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sue Ellen Mathews; and his stepsister, Beverly Parker Plaugher.
Thom is survived by his daughter, Brandy Lynn Mathews, and his ex spouse Cheryl Louise Mathews, who were by his side when he passed. Thom is also survived by his sister, Ann Marie(John) Bercaw; stepbrother, David (Mary Rose) May; and half brothers and sisters, Dennis Mathews, Patricia Mathews Ridenour, Jerry Mathews, Helen Mathews Swint, Richard Mathews, Shelley Mathews McPheron and Sally Mathews; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
