SPENCERVILLE — Franklin D. Mueller, of Spencerville, will celebrate his 90th birthday May 25, 2013. Family dinners were held for Frank to celebrate his birthday.
He was born May 25, 1923 to Caroline Mary Hummer and Edward Charles Mueller. On June 17, 1946, he married Helen Louise Burget, and she died Dec. 28, 2010. They were married for 64 years.
Mueller graduated from Spencerville High School in 1941.
He has one son, Edward J. (Nancy) Mueller of Helotes, Texas; and one daughter, Patricia J. (Mark) Armstrong of Scottsdale, AZ. He has five granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
Mueller is a charter member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
During World War II, he was a Combat Infantryman, Sgt. Cannon Company, 381st Infantry 96th Division in the United States Army. He served in the Battles of Leyte and Okinawa. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Mueller was a mail carrier and retired from the Lima Post Office in 1978.
He enjoyed golf and bowling, and loves watching the Cincinnati Reds. He remains a Spencerville Bearcat.
