LIMA — Meredith Shepherd recorded an impressive Friday night performance for LCC’s softball team, leading the T-Birds to an 8-5 win over Kalida in non-league regular season play.

Shepherd (10-4) was the winning pitcher, striking out eight. She also had four hits, including a home run and a double. Kayla Verhoff singled and doubled and Meredith Niese had two singles for LCC (12-8). Andrea Bellmann tripled and singled twice for Kalida.

Columbus Grove 7, Paulding 1

COLUMBUS GROVE — Bobbi Heckel pitched a complete game, four-hitter to help Grove gain the NWC win. Katie Roose doubled and singled twice while Heckel doubled for Grove (18-7, 6-3). Hope Schroeder tripled, singled and had four RBIs while Micah Stechschulte had two singles.

Parkway 1, Fairview 0

ROCKFORD — Sierra Fent threw a no-hitter for Parkway, striking out seven in the non-league win. She improves to 12-3 while Parkway is 18-5. Rachel King doubled in the sixth and was pinch-run for by Kayle Heckler. Kylie Snyder then roped an RBI-single to win the game.


Sectional Final

Defiance 7, Napoleon 1

DEFIANCE — Rob Zeigler struck out 12 batters in seven innings to win the Division II sectional final at Defiance. The Bulldogs move on to play Toledo Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Archbold. Defiance is 25-1. Dom Romero had three hits and two RBIs for Defiance.

Regular Season

Paulding 10, Columbus Grove 3

COLUMBUS GROVE — Michael Bauer, Quentin Vance and Corbin Edwards each doubled to help Paulding win the NWC game. Damon Egnor pitched a complete game for the win, striking out six, walking seven and giving up three hits and one earned run. Gerod Harder and Kyle Kauser each had two singles for Paulding. Grove falls to 20-5 overall (7-2 NWC).
