LIMA ó The man being held in connection with the killing of his pregnant girlfriend made his first court appearance Tuesday, but not on charges over her death.
Marquavius Shurelds, 22, appeared in court on a prosecutorís motion to revoke his bond and send him to prison. Shurelds denied he violated bond in a 2009 criminal case and asked for a hearing which was scheduled for May 20 in Allen County Common Pleas Court.
Judge Jeffrey Reed set bond at $250,000.
Shurelds is under investigation in connection with the April 6 shooting death of Tara Cutlip at her home at 1157 Bahama Drive. Shurelds and Cutlip had a child together. Itís unclear whether Shurelds was the father of the unborn child.
Shurelds has not been charged in Cutlipís death and if he is to be charged, it could be some time since authorities can hold him on the allegation he violated his probation.
The probation violation is over a conviction for having a gun under a court sanction.
Shurelds and Cutlip had a rocky past despite having a child together.
Shurelds was charged with domestic violence in 2012 and 2011 over incidents with Cutlip but never convicted, according to Lima Municipal Court records.
Cutlip failed to appear to testify at Shurelds trial over an incident last August. Shurelds was charged over an incident in July 2011 only to have Cutlip ask prosecutors to dismiss the case, according to court record.
