Melba L. Brown, 96, died at 1:30 a.m. April 4, 2013, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
She was born Dec. 13, 1916, in Salem Township, Auglaize County, a twin daughter to Albert T. and Hazel C. Gross Haller, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 29, 1939, she married Claude Stanley “Brownie” Brown, who died March 23, 1992.
Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Buckland High School. She had worked at Hayes-Albion Corp., Spencerville, for 23 years. She was a member of Kossuth Zion United Methodist Church, Kossuth. She had participated in the Spencerville and Delphos Mealsite. She was a longtime member of Chapter 130 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post 191 Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 Auxiliary, all in Spencerville.
Survivors include two children, Sharon A. (Richard “Ron”) Roeder and Stanley E. (Linda J.) Brown, both of Spencerville; five grandsons, Scott Roeder, of Marysville, Steve and Brad Roeder, of Spencerville, Eric Brown, of Van Wert, and Neil Brown, of Spencerville; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Irene Haller, of Lima; and a brother-in-law, Donald Steinebrugge, of Spencerville.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, twins, Robert “Bob” Haller and Betty Boedecker, her twin, Ruth Lucas, and Miriam Steinebrugge; three brothers-in-law, Harold “Tiny” Boedecker, Francis “Bud” Lucas and Robert “Bob” McCune.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. Pastor Tom Shobe will officiate. Burial will be in Spencerville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home, where an OES service will be held at 8 p.m. today.
