Mary H. Dienstberger, 88, died at 4 p.m. March 28, 2013, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Washington Township to Otto and Mary “May” Kershner Jettinghoff, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Dienstberger worked for 38 years at Household Finance, where she had been the office manager for more than three years. She had also worked at Commercial Bank for nine years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, where she was a member of the adult choir. She was a 1942 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School, where she was a member of the high school choir, and attended Northwest Business School. She had been a volunteer at St. Rita’s Medical Center and with the Delphos Canal Commission. She loved music, especially playing the piano, and had played for the Autumn Years Choraliers singing group. She liked bowling, reading, needle point, counted cross stitch, bird watching, watching golf and playing cards with her friends. She was an avid fan of the University of Notre Dame and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. She was a people person who made friends easily. She was full of life, making every occasion a party. She made everyone’s day brighter.
Survivors include two brothers, Paul Jettinghoff, of Newton, N.C., and Louis (Lorene) Jettinghoff, of Delphos; and 13 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Art Jettinghoff; a sister, Alice Hays; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Jettinghoff and Mildred Jettinghoff; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Hays.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Father Melvin Verhoff will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m.
