Elizabeth L. ‚??Betty‚?Ě Bendele, 86, died at 5 p.m. March 28, 2013, at VanCrest Healthcare Center, Delphos.
She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Delphos to Carl and Eulalia Kalt Mueller, who preceded her in death. She was raised by her stepmother, Florence Feathers Mueller, who also preceded her in death. On Oct. 30, 1947, she married Rudolph Bendele, who died Feb. 1, 1995.
Mrs. Bendele was a homemaker and had worked at W.T. Grant Co., Delphos, and then with her husband as office manager at Spencerville Lumber Co. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, where she had been a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a volunteer at the Delphos Thrift Shop. She enjoyed traveling to her winter home in Florida, but enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Bendele and Elaine (Lee) Ulm, both of Delphos, and Janet (Steve) Howell, of Spencerville; two sisters, Rita (John) Deerhake, of Lima, and Margie Mick, of South Carolina; a brother, Larry (Shirley) Mueller, of Spencerville; five grandchildren, Chad (Lisa) Ulm, Carrie (Dr. Matthew) Akers, Leslie (Koby) Gladen, Cody Howell and Brian Howell; four great-grandchildren, Reagan and Grant Ulm, and Korbyn and Kyla Rae Gladen; and two special sisters-in-law, JoAnn Mueller, of Spencerville, and Helen Bendele, of Delphos.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Thomas Mueller.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Father Melvin Verhoff will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
