February 21, 2013

WAPAKONETA A man charged with multiple counts of rape in three counties was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison for crimes in Auglaize County.

Travis Quinter, 33, was sentenced on four counts of rape, each a first-degree felony. Judge Frederick Pepple sentenced Quinter to 10 years on each count, to be served consecutively.

Quinter had been charged with eight counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition before a plea deal was reached in January. Quinter will be required to register for the rest of his life as a sex offender.

In January, Quinter pleaded guilty to two counts of rape in Allen County. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 6 in that case.

And in Mercer County, Quinter has a case pending in which he is charged with two counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition. A trial date has not been scheduled in that case.

In the Allen County case, Quinter raped two children younger than 13 between Nov. 1, 2011, and March 31, a prosecutor said.
