Ottawa business expands to offer more items and space

November 14, 2012

OTTAWA - Customers were busy shopping last Monday as Merle Norman Cosmetic Boutique held a ribbon cutting for The Gift Emporium, located at 146 W. Main Street in Ottawa.

Sandy Gillespie started in August 1996 by opening a Merle Norman Cosmetic Boutique in Findlay. Shoe owned and operated in Findlay for five years when she decided to sell that location and open the Merle Norman in Ottawa. Gillespie loves her clients and enjoys being close to home and giving back to her community.

The Merle Norman in Ottawa has been successfully open for 11 years. She has been very pleased with the cosmetic side of the business and has dabbled in handbags, scarves and jewelry for years and found that it was time to expand. The Readmore building was purchased in October and the renovation began.

Gillespie is happy and proud to be opening the Gift Emporium. The gift emporium will carry handbags, scarves, jewelry, Amish candy, candies, homemade goat’s milk soap and many unique gifts.

Gillespie would like to thank all of her clients and employees for making her business such a success and giving her the opportunity to open the Gift Emporium.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
