LIMA — Pumpkins are everywhere in fall, including in our favorite dishes.
Today, Tori Hunt shares a recipe that may well become one of your fall favorites.
Hunt has been cooking for years.
“I like to cook,” Hunt said. “My grandma taught me how to cook when I was younger.”
She has many warm memories of cooking with her late grandmother, who made what Hunt claims is the best peanut butter fudge ever. These homespun skills — like being taught to peel a potato with a paring knife while holding both — are now being honed at Apollo Career Center. Hunt is a junior from Shawnee High School. Once she adjusted to the basic changes — like using a cutting board instead of holding what she’s cutting — it’s been fun.
“I like to make stuff from scratch. I find it more of a challenge and more of my own thing,” Hunt said. “If you make it from scratch, you know you’re the one who did it.
“I like the feeling of when people compliment your food. You feel accomplishment, like you did something good,” Hunt said.
