Scripture tells us that Jesus and David were both anointed three times. Jesus was anointed at birth, by John the Baptist and upon His ascension. David was anointed by Samuel at the ripe age of 17, he was anointed King of Judah at the age of 30, and then king over all Israel at the age 37.
In the days to come, the tabernacle of David is being rebuilt. This includes Davidic warfare and worship and praise. This progressive anointing comes with great responsibility to believers. The three anointings coincide with the three courts, the outer court, inner court and the holy of holies. It also coincides with the holy gates, doors and veils. This also means that there are three anointing, three realms of the spirit and three kings.
The first anointing looks at the heart. This is a time of cleansing the heart, and this prepares you for the service of the Lord. After the first anointing, David was persecuted by King Saul. That was a great heart purifier. David through all of the persecution never learned the art of throwing darts. He only learned how to the dodge darts and how to avoid confrontations and how to hide from the enemy because of the anointed (Saul). We can truly learn from David on many points especially respect for the anointing of men, “touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.”
At his second anointing at age 30, he was anointed over the tribe of Judah. He was equipped for the great task ahead to rule over all of Israel. Thenm the fullness of the plans of God came forth in the life of David. Conformation of our call comes forth by prophecy, Scripture and a company of brethren. The anointing comes in stages, like in Ezekiel 47. The anointing flows first to the ankles, then the knees, then the waist, then to the loins. It is imperative that we have the necessary Word that we need to grow into the anointing God has released to us. Otherwise, we may not be able to hold on to nor walk faithfully. It is also imperative that we grow in spirit, wisdom, grace, stature, favor and faith.
The first anointing is the 30-fold anointing or the outer court, the second anointing is the inner court anointing and the third anointing is the holy of holies, the fullness. This anointing is for the sons of God, the mature saints. There are three stages for ministry — first affirmation, then ordination, then comes destination, when the visions of God comes into fullness. This comes with great sacrifice and even greater surrender on our part to the Holy Spirit. The Lord is not going to allow immature saints to walk in the fullness of His power, anointing and glory. This means a lot of dying to self, death comes through suffering, sacrifices and self denial (Romans 6-8).
The tabernacle of David is already within us and needs to be brought forth to the glory of the Lord (Acts 15:15-19) (Romans 11:13-24). This tabernacle of David is a tabernacle that will not be taken down (Isaiah 33:20). I know that this is a great warfare anointing. When you study David’s army, it was a supernatural army, which means it is fought in the spirit realm. It had supernatural power against the powers of darkness, as it was a takeover army. When David mentioned he wanted a drink of water, his army walked through the Philistine army for that drink of water for David untouched.
The three-fold anointing of David is the prophetic, the priestly and the kingly. God is restoring exactly what was lost in the Garden of Eden by Adam and Eve. When they fell, they fell from the realm of the supernatural and into sin. Jesus came to deliver us from sin, poverty and sickness. Now it is time to walk in the power that Adam and Eve lost. It is in us. Now we need to believe that it is there and begin to walk it. This anointing does not come without a price but it does not even begin to compare to the glory that shall be revealed. Are you willing to pay the price?
